LHN The Bookshelf FRAMED 18th May 2011

I'm just about to start a new project. I've been itching to get cracking on this one and I've just finished prepping it so I'm all ready to start stitching now.
I've altered the design slightly. There are some authors on there that I love - I'm a bit of a bookworm - and some that I haven't read at all. So, with the designers permission, I've replaced some of the authors that I haven't read with some of my favourites, so that it's more personal to me.
This is the stash. All DMC with 28 count Cashel. Finished size will be approx 8" x 12".

Really a fascinating sampler and what a great idea to change some of the authors. I can well imagine you are keen to get started.

Oooo. I'm a little jealous over here. I love that pattern and have it on my wishlist. I'm a librarian, so I have dreams of stitching it and hanging it in my office at work.

A beautiful design; I am a big fan of LHN. Their subtle muted colours work so well.
I look forward to see your version of the Bookshelf come together.

I've added Hardy (Thomas) to go with Austen and Bronte as Tess of the D'Urbervilles is one of my all time favourite books.
I had to add Tolkien as Lord of the Rings is my absolute favourite book.
Byatt (A.S.) as she's a newly discovered favourite author and The Children's book is in my top five of the books that I've read this year.
Banks (Iain) as he's been one of my favourite authors for years and The Wasp Factory is another of my all time favourites.
I left in Alcott and Burnett as they're authors that I've read and liked and they go with the artwork at the bottom.
Sorry that's a bit long, but you did ask

It wasn't long at all

And I did indeed ask. Sounds like you have a very wide range when it comes to reading.. I like it

I've done the top two 'lines' so far. My first play with metallics on the spines of the books. Boy, aren't they fun
They don't photograph very well either. Those white flecks on them aren't really there, I think it's where the flash was bouncing around.
So far I'm really enjoying stitching this. The next bit is where I've customised so I'm looking forward to diving into that.
