So I'm finally dont with this: [urlhttp://www.jigsawjungle.com/code/dimensions/wohbnnr.htm][/url] Dimensions banner that has been such a thorn in my side. Very pleased with it now that its done though.

The instructions to finish it off say to leave 5 blank blocks all the way around the piece. Fold the edges over so the blank blocks are not visible, and stitch the excess into place....without letting the stitching show on the front side of the piece.

Any tips on how to manage this?? I could try to tack them to the back sides of the red edging stitches, but I'm a little leery of it pulling those stitches even tighter on the front, giving an uneven look.

I can't see the link cause it's not working for me. But I'm going to assume that since it's a Dimensions kit that you're working on Aida. If that's the case I can help.

I also use this method for when I'm doing half stitches and I have no place to secure them to. When they make Aida, the band they seem to just split through the middle of the other piece of aida, making it look around the other thread. Like a layered weaving. And what I have found out is that you can split these layers, without it showing through on the front.

When at the back of your aida, use your needle and slip it under a piece of aida that weaves over. Like shown in the pic. Let me know if you have any questions.

i did a dimensions banner and ironed it first to hold the folded bit down..then i cheated...i sealed it with very thin iron on fabric cut exactly to the size of the finished piece and it held the sides in and no stitching required..it''s the santa claws banner in my gallery. Kind of like using hemming tape but not just the sides, I did the whole piece of work like when you do interfacing on clothes.

Thanks guys! Both are great tips, not sure which one I'm going to try, but both answered my question. I was ready to cut the stupid thing up when I read "don't let it show on the front". lol

Sounds like that's the winner! I'll have to pick some up (or look over my sewing stuff) to finish it. I never knew something so small could get me so stinkin annoyed!
