I wonder if any of you can help me on this.

A few years ago I went to a needlecraft show at alexandra palace.
There was a display stand that sold just chairs for sitting on to do your needle work.

It looks a very odd chair to look at as you sit on it with your legs under your bottom
It sounds odd I know but it was so comfortable and supported your back even though the chair had no back. It might even be classed as a stool I'm not sure.

I'm now looking at buying one as it would be so handy to use while doing my big stitching as it makes my back ache after a while.

Do any off you know what I'm talking about ? Who makes them and where to buy one?

Have looked on the Internet but can't seem to find them.

I know what you mean. I googled "posture stool" and this one came up among others. I know nothing about them though.

i tried one out at the fair was very comfortable.

was going to buy it when i saw it. thought id go back back after i had looked around and buy one ,but by the end i spend all my money lol if i remember right it was a lot more than £40

I've often wondered if these were as good as I've heard. It is certainly on my list to explore for comfortable stitching. Keep us informed, please.

im hoping it is more comfortable than sitting on the sofa , as i cant get the floor stand frame close enough to sofa so i end up sitting at a silly postion which makes my back ache

Great! Another sort of chair you might useful for stitching is, paradoxically, a "nursing" chair. They are generally lower to the ground and, crucially, have no arms to get in the way. Would certainly cause a buzz in the neighbourhood...

It's hard to imagine how a chair with no back can be comfy because anytime I sit on a backless stool it kills my back.
I'm interested to know if it helps you if you do get one.

I beleive they are called saddle seats, at least that's what my memory tells me from workers compensation law (many office workers with back injuries were prescribed them)

may want to the check these out as well makes sense about the knees cramping up on the kneeling chairs

You saw Sit/Kneel chairs by Nigel Mason in Wales, he has been doing the crafting shows for years now, yes they are expensive, yes I have had mine for nearly twenty years now and yes it still looks as good as the day it was bought (apart from when I left my magnifyer in the conservatory and tried to burn a hole in the seat) you learn to NOT leave a magnifyer uncovered (I only did it three times before it sunk in!!!)
Yes I do find mine comfortable, never did understand why with no back support it helped but it does and you can work on any height or width with nothing getting in the way. If you are unsure of it as it is costly or even the cheaper ones then wait for the next show and go sit on them, Nigel doesn't mind how long you sit so long as it is right.

I have to ask...doesn't that become rather harsh for the knees? I couldn't use one due to a circulation issue with my one leg, but I would have to think spending hours on end that way would eventually take a toll.

Back would be fine just get sore knees instead lol
