I am working on HAED qs garnet and 917 plum MD is next to 718 plum. i cant for the life of me see a difference between the shades. Am wondering if i made a mistake whilst putting the on bobbins  Does anyone have these two shades so I can double check? I just need to know if they are practically identical??? :?

Thanks in advance x

Hi
I've just pulled my dmc threads out and had a look--and the colors are very close to each other my 917 is just a tiny bit darker than the 718--and I imagine when they are stitched up would be very hard to tell the difference.
I'm having the same problem, if it's a problem on my iris fairy--two of the colors are very nearly identical--guess it's just all in the shading :?

Just for extra reassurance, I checked mine as well and it's the same.
It's hard to know what it will bring to your Haed, with being SO close. But no doubt it will be some subtle difference that overall looks fab!
:D

It's always great to get help isn't it? This forum is full of people that love to help others out. Another update coming soon--I'll be sitting on the magic bench waiting! Love to see the great stitching projects that everyone is working on. So many choices and so not enough time to do them.
Glad you like my projects--I've so many sitting in cupboards--oh well, that is the fun of stitching isn't it--to enjoy what you are stitching? Speaking of which, I've noticed kell has put the chart for the birds and bloom bookmark on her blog--another must do on my list

I read your query and dived upstairs to check my stash and found that they are so similar that they could be used in place of each other in a design. But as yours are used in the same design I presume that it will work as shading.

Rosemary

Just looked at your post again and realised that others have already beaten me to it. Teach me to read on before reacting.

LOL Rosemary--just shows how willing we all are to help out our fellow stitchers and it really does help to have multiple people verify situations like this--at least I think so :D

I agree with you all they look very similar.

Many charts ask you to use two different shades in a section of the design, and when you check they do look exactly the same colour.
And like you I always dought myself when coming to do it.

But if you take your time to sort you threads out before you start then you know it's right even if you do start think otherwise. I always spent at least an hour sorting them.
Then when I come to stitching i know that my threads are correct, no room for dought then.

Even if you have got the 2 shades round the wrong way it won't really matter as there such a close match.

Sort twice stitch once
