Blackwork

Post by mauveme »

I put a picture in my gallery of my first attempt at blackwork. ( I had to delete some pics as it was full  ) It is a Christmas card. The back is not so great, guess I will have to work on that

You should be very proud. It looks wonderful. Don't worry too much about the back. Next time you are in a museum, have a look at the backs of some 16th-century blackwork... a web of thread. It's often the only thing that's holding these old pieces together.

I wonder if carefully chosen beads would look nice on blackwork Christmas trees?

Pretty tree I like the way it looks and who cares about the back. The chorus line is very cute also.

Great idea Jilly decorate your tree.

I am in the process of adding the table runner to my gallery.

The pattern suggested beads and sequins, also pressies around the tree, but I wanted to keep it simple.
Thanks for all your kind words.
