Big Stain

So as I was cleaning out my stash mess, I found an older project "Country Bloomers". My MIL and I would sit and stitch together and she spilled something on it accidentally. She passed away last week from Alzheimers and I don't want to throw it away. Alot of stitching is on it and I really like the pattern. And now that she has passed it makes it all more sentimental.
I did a search for "stain" on here and saw that someone said dish detergent. Right now it is soaking in the sink with dish soap. Last night I washed it twice. Once with just detergent and the second time I sprayed Shout on it and had detergent. And while it has lightened its not completely gone.
Hoping for the best!

oh no!!! I had a similiar situation with a UFO... It's still there a bit, but I stitched over most of it, and the rest I will hide when it gets framed.. good luck with your stain..

The older the stain the harder to get it out... :( Good luck!

Is it at all possible to sort of stain it some more and distress the whole thing?

I have seen new work that even has holes deliberately added for that "vintage"" look...

Its still soaking at home so I don't know how it turned out yet? The stain was considerably lighter though after the first two washes. If it doesn't come out completely I will leave it just as "sentimental" value.

For just general organic/ food/ plant based stains in the wash.. in my house nothing can beat Oxy-Clean powder. In the blue box. My aunt removed blueberry pie filling out from off white carpet with it.

I just mix up some of the powder into a sink full of warm water so it dissolves and throw in whatever happens to be stained. If I were to try it on a stitched piece, I would wait until the water cools just in case any of the threads happen to run.. but if its been washed a few times already.. you are probably safe.

Good luck
