Naughty box

Well, the box itself isn't, but my buying it is, a little. I found this on Sew & So and knew it would be just perfect for my Caron threads and special perles, and I fell in love with it  . So I promised myself that I would buy that with the first money I made from Mabel's Fancies. Well, last week I made my first sale, which was very exciting :-) but not nearly enough to pay for the box, but I decided to get it anyway as a reward for my hard work  :-). Even DH accepted that as a legitimate reason  !

Anyway, here it is, the first two pics show it empty, the other two filled with stash. It is actually bigger than I thought, so the top holds all my Caron threads (Watercolours, Wildflowers, Impressions, Waterlilies, Soie Cristale, Snow) plus other hand-dyed perles like Dinky Dyes and Stef Francis, and the bottom holds my #12 perles (in the back) and some special perles which are not on bobbins in the front.

There is room in the lid for some embroidery, but none of the ones I've done so far is the right shape and size; however, I think Resurrection (the dragonfly) will be just right for it!

Seriously.. such a gorgeous box! And definitely worth a celebration for your first sale. It's funny, I never really  over any stash before, until I saw all your pretty, shiny threads.

It's gorgeous Mabel, and you've certainly deserved it :) Been eying that one up myself, but I'm not allowed to buy more stash now until I get a job

Not naughty, NICE!!!!

You were absolutely right to buy it - you might not have known at the time but of course it is essential to your swift recovery.

Love it! (and the contents!)

What are you going to stitch to put in the top?

It really is a lovely box, but it's what you've put in it that makes it look so...

...delicious

@ Offe -- how like a man :-). I have the occasional Earl Grey but otherwise it's ordinary English Breakfast for me!

@ Rosemary -- I charted a dragonfly design a little while ago which I called Resurrection, based on the story that was posted here on the Forum a few times about the little underwater beetles who thought life ended when one of them went to the surface, but it turns out they become dragonflies. That design should be about the right size and shape for the box, so I may have to push it towards the front of the queue.... It's going to use sparkly Caron Snow threads and some Petite treasure Braid, and here is a small pic of the chart (although that doesn't really show you what the stitched version will look like) -- if you look carefully you can see the little beetle/larva at the bottom of the bullrush:

:applesauce: :applesauce: on your sale.

The box is lovely (even without all your pretty stash inside) and I think the dragonfly pattern will be charming. Can't wait to see it done. So simple and so elegant.
