Needlepaints

Hi there

I've got a couple of Lavender and Lace charts that use Needlepaints. I've been doing a bit of digging on the web about availability and have come to the conclusion that they are rather expensive and difficult to get hold of, although I have found a couple of suppliers online. Has anyone used them and are they worth the effort in tracking them down and the extra cost, or would the DMC substitutions work as well.

Many thanks
Jo

I had a look on the Sew and So website, and they say that these are hard to get hold of! They recommend changing to DMC!

I also found a message from Lavender and Lace about substituting for something else.

I would imagine that as long as you stick with one brand, you won't notice the difference!

Thanks for that Paula as I have several L&L charts in my stash. However I have never heard of the threads she mentions so it could be interesting.

Some years ago I started kitting up Angel of Light and was sent a DMC replacement for 1 purple/blue which was unavailable even back then

The Needlepaints are very pretty to work with but they are difficult to find. I managed to luck out and find some in a clearance bin and I really like them but I wouldn't go out of my way to find them. There shouldn't be any difficulties substituting DMC or another brand even. I would just double check the color match.

Mary Jane's Cross "N Stitch carries them. Only a few colors, though, I think they only have colors of whatever designs they carry that call for them. It's in the states, but they accept international orders.

I received the following information when looking for the 2100 series of Needlepaints (which have been discontinued):

DMC substitutions:

2101 -> 3813
2102 -> 503
2103 -> 502
2104 -> 501
2105 -> blend 501 and 500
2106 -> 500

I was able to get the Needlepaints I was looking for through a Canadian company and they really do have more depth that the DMC subs. In the end, no one will know the difference though.
