Started this about a week and a half ago, and I'm loving it. Thought I ought to start a SAL to go along with it. Will be adding pictures later, once I've found the cable for my phone. Still missing about half the threads for it, but I started anyway, because all my other stuff is over at my old place still. I have spent today doing nothing but stitching, it's been great. And helpful because I'm on day 2 of no smoking, and it gives me something to do with my hands. Plus, it's so much fun anyway!
Edit: This is where I was a few days ago with this.

Congrats on the quitting smoking. Good luck with it.
Hope to see more of your work soon!
~If I could do anything, it would be to never do a 9-5 and just stitch all day~ Looking for Pen Pals! PM me if you're interested. New Site!

for stopping smoking first. Been there done that and I know it can be hard. Stitching is a great help.
good start on your work. Can't wait to see how it progresses

Thanks guys Day 3 of no smoking, been hard because I've also been trying (and sort of failing) to write an essay all day.
Anyways, this is where I was as of last night:

Good progress and anytime you need encouragement to stay stopped (on your smoking) feel free to ask.
Stitching is great for keeping your fingers busy and pretty soon you won't be counting days but weeks.
(think about buying yourself a treat with all the money that you save too. That worked for me!)

I totally agree! Good luck with quitting smoking--you are doing fantastic!! I quit smoking 21 yrs ago--and took up stitching instead! I think that's a great substitution!!

You are going to be so pleased with giving up smoking! Seriously I've had both parents and a number of close friends go through it and they all swear the rewards are fantastic (increased energy levels, feeling stronger and fitter, sense of taste increases, sense of smell improves and you smell better to everyone else which makes people more friendly, not to mention the money you'll save - my dad bought a vintage mercedes with the money he saved in a year).
Congrats on the giving up smoking. I gave up about 15 years ago and although it wasn't easy to start with, it got easier and it was well worth it.
Cross stitch is a great way to keep your fingers occupied and it looks like you've been keeping yours busy. I'm looking forward to seeing your project grow
Not sure if you have this sort of thing in the UK but here in the US they have these electronic cigarettes. Helped my husband quit and he's been free for almost a year now.
congrats to you!

Three days! Congrats! Keep the good work.. I think stitching is a great replacement for smoking. Instead of charred lungs and yellow teeth you're creating something beautiful
