A project I am working on requires a border within a border . The inner border is done in backstitsch and the lengths covered are 123 X 79 squares on 14 count aida .
What do people reccomend as a tried and trusted method cover this distance ?
A lot of people go 2 or 3 stitches at a time to cover long lenghts of backstitching. Skipping too many holes might leave the thread loose though. On 14 ct Aida I think 3 at a time would work well.

I agree about long lengths and wouldn't go further than 3 holes so as to keep it taught.
Sounds as though you are really getting hooked into cross stitching which is just fabulous. You mentioned models in a previous post - what sort of models do/did you do?

I make plastic kits . Usually 1/35 or 1/48 scale . Trying to get my little boy interested , but seem to get more interest from my eldest daughter .
Also make the Gamesworkshop kits . Again its my eldset who shows keeness in these even to the point of wanting to play war games with me ?
I recently aquiered a crossstitch programme which enables you to make your own designs or transfer pictures to patterns , so one of my future projects is a Warhammer 40000 Space Marine .
Not too sure that the other half is too impressed though .
Space marines!! OMG! Eldest Son has been painting these since forever (it seems), and now runs Warhammer RPGs. Quote the books. Which sounds very sad, but he does do other things too.
