Karen4bells Noel--updated Dec 8--made into bell pull

Thanks to Maggie, I fell in love with Noel. While she is working hers on black aida, I have chosen to stitch mine on 16 count navy blue aida--which is still hard enough on my eyes but I love how it is looking already. This will be a weekend project, until at least when I finish my kingfishers project. After that, I may make it my weekday project and find something else to do on weekends. At any rate, here is my progress after working on it last weekend.

That is really striking. Are you using regular threads or are they a bit sparkly? or is that just the effect of the lighter colors against the dark blue background? Really festive. Merry Christmas. And I know you are doing this when it is nearly 100 outside in Florida. Does it make you feel cooler

The threads are normal dmc threads other than a few stitches bordering the top of the left side of the N--that is kreinik gold braid #4 but I'll likely not do much stitching of the braid until the rest of the design is done.
LOL yea it is rather warm here in Florida--seems like it's hit the mid 90's daily now for weeks

Oh Karen.. you've found where the white goes!!
It really does look different stitched on the blue. Its interesting to see how we are working on the same chart- but stitching it differently. I did the letter last and the borders first. By your progess it looks like you are flying though this quickly. I hope you are enjoying it like I am. Muy Bien
I'll try and remember to snap a photo tomorrow. I am almost ready to start stitching the O

That is looking really lovely and the difference in the fabric colour makes it a whole different project. You sure are flying through it.

Great start, looking really nice! Love the colors against the navy. Can't wait for the holidays, I'm not one for this heat!

Awesome--I really do recommend it--it's going to be worth stitching up--just need to find a really nice bell hardware set to go with it now--hopefully before I finish stitching it up

Time for another update on NOEL--slow going but I am only working on it on the weekend--my eyes can only take so much stitching on the dark aida.
Couldn't get the navy to show up quite as dark as it should today--but at any rate, here's how it looks now
