I have finally managed to download the instructions for Abi Gurden's Tree of Stitches found here:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TheStitchSpecialists/
Woo hoo!

I'm a total dunce at Yahoo message boards and it has taken me days to figure it out, but I did it! I'm exhausted.
Now I need to pick fabric and thread. There was never a moment of hesitation in my mind about color. I'm a lifelong pink fanatic so I'll be having a cherry blossom pink tree. But will it be silk or something else? I'm such a newbie I think I'll go for a 28 count linen instead of something finer. I've never tried hand dyed linen before, so I'm thinking about it. Maybe a sky blue with clouds in it. So much fun!

So glad you've got the pages all downloaded and I hope you have fun sorting out what fabric and threads you will use!
I can't wait to start on mine, but will have to wait a bit longer for some of my threads to arrive. I may just get going on it soon though, as I will be using a few variety of threads for mine!
Have fun!!

I can't wait to see yours. I should get started on mine. I only have some of the threads though i am pretty sure of my fabric. Haven't ordered any silks yet cause I've been dilly dallying I guess.

In the meantime, I am just loving looking at all the others. Once I take my first step, I'll start an SAL too. At least I could get going on the first few parts. and I guess if I get impatient on thread there is always old reliable DMC regular.

The frugal bug bit me tonight and I went shopping in my stash. That's always so fun. I have everything I need (not necessarily want) so I'm ready to start. Unfortunately I didn't have any 28 count so I'm going to have to work with 32 count, but I'm used to it so I think I'll be okay.

Can't wait to see your Tree grow Raine! It's so much fun to all be stitching the same design together - but they will all be individual to us! I shopped from my stash too and discovered some threads I hadn't had the opportunity to use yet so it was as if they were 'new' anyway. Looking forward to seeing pics as always.......

Alrighty!
Here's my Part 1. I'm using leftover Wichelt-Permin 32 count linen in Antique White that I used in my "What Cancer Cannot Do" project and many of the Silk Mori threads I've accumulated in delicious pinks and burgundies. I even have a frame that will work with this that I bought for something else it turned out not to work with, so this project is 100% stash! I love it! The trunk is a rich warm brown with golden highlights, but, as usual, my photography skills didn't pick that up.

Must use your imagination.

You have to be sure to check your spam folder for the confirmation emails. I hardly ever get spam in my gmail account which is the one I use for forums and stitching stuff and didn't check it for like 2 days and thought I wasn't accepted to the group and there it had been sitting.

Yep, mine was in spam too. I had further trouble getting that other form I can't think of the name of right now

and the passwords but all's well that ends well.

I applied as well but so far nothing. I delete spam folders so may have missed it. On the actual group it says still awaiting owner approval, so dunno!
EDIT: Got the e-mail. I feel like I've just been to a job interview!
