My future sister-in-law got me into this site and I am now addicted...and I have quickly realized it is a GREAT way to keep track of what i want to stitch in the future! It even keeps the link to the image so you know where you can find it!

It is called Pintrest and it http://www.Pintrest.com" target="_blank" target="_blank. Basically you can take an image online and pin it to a board. You can have boards of ANYTHING....and I have a "things I want to stitch" board!

Here is the link to my stitching board so you can see what I mean.

IF anyone else wants to join, i would LOVE to get ideas from you!

MaggieM....I am right with you. I have friends that rave about this site. But I must not get it!! I pinned some things...but just seemed to loose interest.

Glad to know I am not alone :)

I guess I don't quite understand how it works. I can see if you want to keep track of your own stuff, but I don't quite get the sharing. Is is sort of like a facebook thing? which I don't do much of either.

I've never heard of it before, but I think it is very, very cool. I think it is sort of what I wanted to do when I started my blog -- just have a place to collect things I liked, or comforted me, or made me happy, or meant something in general to me, because my husband got cancer and I wanted a "room of my own" where I could go to try to cope and just look at things I had collected that were meaningful to me. It didn't work out that way for me, though. I have friends from too many different walks of life and some people didn't get things, questioned things, were offended by things, etc. I was even asked by a couple of "friends" to remove things from my own blog. It became very stressful and upsetting, exactly what it was supposed to alleviate. I deleted a bunch of stuff and turned it into mostly a cross stitch blog. How controversial is cross stitch? @rotfl:

I can see how this could be far "safer" because you're just pinning images, right? Not videos, personal thoughts, rants, etc.? Kind of like an inspiration design board. Very handy, because you don't have to physically print out the images and pin or tape to a wall.

I love this site! I just started using it last week and you are right, what an easy way to see all the things I like!

Raine - that is part of why I love it. It is just pinning things and you can put a sentence with why you like it or what you want to do with it.

I have SO many house ideas and recipes I want to try from it!

My favorite thing is my "want to stitch" board though. I went through my 30 links I had Bookmarked and pinned the specific charts I want to buy. So now they are MUCH easier to see. I am sure that will get way too much on it, but it is a fun way to organize things. And have cute pictures that make me happy!

I think the "Things I Want To Stitch" board is a great idea!
I want to do one too but I think I'd get depressed, I'd never get to stitch them all.
But very fun to look at and good for keeping track of things you want, kind of like a Christmas/ birthday gift wish list you can direct people to!

And Raine, I'm sad people asked you to remove things from your blog. Why is it so hard for people to just ignore what they disagree with? (I mean generally within reason, of course, I don't expect one to ignore someone breaking the law or hurting people, etc.)

I'm not so sure about posting pics of things I'd like to stitch, only because I fear I would get bogged down! Although I was very interested in your pictures, and would love to see where you got the chart/kit for I love snow days (I work as a school secretary and we have one teacher who, when the weather man calls for snow, starts a "snow day" chant, and by golly we always seem to have one then!!!!) I would love to work it for this teacher for her room.

Also, to Raine, how sad that some people are so narrow minded that they cannot accept other peoples thoughts, rants and discussions, to the point where you felt you had to remove "controversial" posts. I think that if my husband were to be diagnosed with cancer I would have a lot to say as well, and the sometimes difficult things I would want to say should be accepted! Heck with being P.C.!

Keep on posting!

I know. I even had someone who hated my playlist! It isn't on autoplay, so just don't listen to it would seem to be the obvious solution. I kept my playlist exactly the way I like it.

Right, don't listen, hit the back button if you don't like it!

Raine, I rarely go to blogs (if I started I'd never get any stitching done), but I've been up to yours a few times and I find it delightful. The poems on the side (the background is lovely). If people don't like it they should go elsewhere. Its your blog, or don't I understand how blogs work. Well, I don't quite understand how blogs work, but that is besides the point. And really, a playlist. And I just took a peek, and now I have to go back and see what that Georgette Heyer challenge is. Anyway, ignore the ranters. Come here and we will give you

That site sounds interesting.. I think it might be helpful for me to determine what I'm stitching next. Thanks for the link.

Raine: Wow.. that's so rude. If you don't agree with someone's ideas, etc. just don't read the blog! Like you said about your music. I'm glad you stuck to your guns there.

Hijacking allowed! Mostly because you are awesome, and kind and just amazing!

Darlene - Here is the link to that pattern. I want to make it for every teacher I know (which is a LOT). http://www.123stitch.com/cgi-perl/itemd ... em=03-3171

I don't really see it as intimidating or sad that I won't ever stitch everything I want, I think of it as "oo I should finish everything I have planned because these are pretty!"

Raine...That is a great explanation. I may have to give it another go.
I think the sharing thing was kinda tripping me up.
But I like the ideas you all gave for"things I want to stitch" or House Ideas.

Well, I do find it a little scary that there are strangers who feel they have the right to edit your "diary". Sorry you had that experience. It would be uncomfortable.

Thanks for the link Cait! I am going to order it tonight; I think I would like to stitch up a few for Christmas presents to the few teachers who are particular friends

Thanks for all the interesting reading!

I now know what my problem is with this bulletin pin board. I just followed Tiffany's link and then discovered I had added about 5 charts to my HAED wish list. All I did was click on "Forest Walk" on your board, took me to HAED and after I added it to my wish list, I got the "peopel who bought this also like..." I did a search on Dragons and didn't get any of the ones I just added. I'm afraid to go look at anyone elses pinboards. But now I see that they certainly could help me keep track of the charts I want to do for the different afghans, for eg. Since so many are not in books but are actually online now it isn't going to be easy to know where I always found something. Think I might have to do this too. It would be nice to have a place where those of us who have these can find each other's. Not that I need more ideas. But I always want more ideas. Does that make sense?
