I have a cross stitch pattern that just doesnt seem to look good in a frame and as its a present I want it to look its best. I brought the frame and mount and cut the material and ended up with it slightly smaller then the mount  stupid me! but even without this it didnt look good :(

Its on white fabric and just black stitching so I thought I could make it look better as a cushion. Has anyone else done this with theirs and was it a good idea??

if not professionally framed is the only option to get it something like!

I guess you buy your fabric attach a border to your cross stitch, sew the back to this border and fill :-) any tips/advice would be apprieciated though.

thanks lots

There are a lot of stitchers that have made there work into a pillow or wall hanging or any other number of items. I am currently working on a quilt for my daughter making each square a different angle.

So yes you can make them into a cushion. I believe it was Mable that made a Tuck pillow and gave the direction on how to do it. Or you can just google for some directions.

I've made several of my finishes into cushions - bolster, envelope backs with/without buttons, tied sides and bordered cushions. Depending on what fabric you stitched your piece on, you may want to back it with iron on interfacing to strengthen it and stop show through from the cushion pad. There are lots of instructions on blogs for finishing techiniques - I'm definitely not a seamstress, but as long as you measure twice and cut once you should be fine!
