hi all,
I've kinda come to a halt with my Godzilla project at the moment (not to fear i shall return to it after this one!) probably due to the fact that i went all out on it for a few months. so to keep the stitching bug exercised i decided to do the "a year in flowers" series in 'the world of cross stitching' magazine. normally these are just made a cards but i wanted to do something different, so i came up with the idea of making a calender out of them. when i first started it seemed an easy project to do...... and here is what i have done so far

Image

i missed out August as i didn't have the orange colours, lucky for me that i did because both October and November's flowers are orange too. my problem now, is that there is too much orange in the bottom right corner. having brain stormed with my wife we concluded that the best way to solve this problem is to change the colours of the borders of the 3 "orange" months to help break up and separate the 3 flowers, well that's the plan, now to see if it'll work lol.

Really pretty! :applesauce: :applesauce: :D

I think the idea of different coloured borders on the orangy ones is good. You could also change out the oranges to lighter and darker shades, perhaps...? One really pale and delicate, one very strong, and one middling? :thinks:

They are really lovely and I think the idea of doing a different border would work well.

I too have looked at those charts and wondered whether to do them as a calendar then got onto other things. Might give it some thought whilst I am away.

Great work so far!! Good luck with the color changes.. it sounds like a good idea.. orange already is usually a very vibrant in your face color.. It does have a tendency to overshadow "quieter" colors

That's definitely 180 degrees from Godzilla. :D Great start. For October would a purple or black border work since it's Halloween? I hope you and your wife come up with some good ideas!

as you can see i've not done the border or back stitching yet since i'm waiting to do the chrysanthemum which will go on the right of it, first.
