I'm a fabric search for my newest HAED design.

Unlike most HAED it doesn't cover the entire fabric so I'm looking for an affordable (under $20) fabric that would make a nice backdrop.

Hand-dyeds tend to be expensive, but perhaps one of Zweigart's standard "Vintage" range?

Never seen any at Michaels or Joanns

I had never seen any at Michaels until quite recently. Found gold sparkle Aida on my last visit -- it even included a free Joan Elliott design.
Not sure if they have large enough pieces for a HAED though. Hope you find something.

Do you have an AC Moore near you? I have found that they have a better selection of fabrics and other cross stitch supplies than Michaels does. Not great, but better. I'm finding that online shopping seems to be the best way to get a selection, which I don't love because I really like to look at what I'm getting. I did find that when I had a question about afghan fabrics, I called 123 Stitch and got a great response on the phone. Do you have an idea of what you are looking for? An earthy kind of color?

Not anymore

They closed it about 3 years ago. I was thinking about and stone grey or brown. Something stormy. I have DMC Marbled fabric but it's all too small. The only other fabric I have that's big enough is all a pale pinkish-peach.

My Joann's also has this, think it's only available in 15 by 18 inches--they also have it in silver dusted, both are very nice!! The free design was cute as can be!!

I just remembered that there is an ebay seller that has a lovely choice of very affordable hand-dyed aidas and other fabrice--and in larger sizes.
Here is a link to her aida dyed and hand painted fabric

I love some of those fabrics. Did a bit of foot stomp (I'm 5yrs today) when the forest green was in 16ct and too small but there are options there. Thank you Karen!!

LOL on the foot stomp Victoria! I know what you mean though, sometimes it can be so very frustrating. She does have some very pretty fabric though and nicely sized ones too, and very affordable. She ships pretty fast too, and will combine items shipped to make it even more affordable. I'm stitching my Earth Goddess on a nice evenweave that I bought from her

Same here. I was thinking about e-mailing her to do a custom one depending on rates. I was thinking with forest greens and browns or forest greens and greys.
Her shipping rates are what caught my eye. They are cheap!

Her shipping rates are wonderful!! The only thing I saw was that it can take up to 3 weeks to get your order, but if her rates are good for custom dyeing that may be worth it. I don't think it can hurt to ask though

Those are some of the most beautiful fabrics. It would be hard to choose between them.

This seller has listed some more new ones today--that is if you haven't already found what you are after. I've learned to check her listings at least once a day as she seems to add to them very frequently
