Very nicely done so far! I saw an ad for the kit in a magazine and just love it. Seeing your stitching definitely makes me want to purchase it! I love all things Jane Austen and this scene looks like it's directly out of one of her books.

I missed the issues it was in from cross stitch collection but I saw it in it's "Buy this kit section" every month for about a year, it's just so beautiful, I love it, and I'm glad that I finally splurged on the kit

Ok, so I couldn't stand it anymore and I just purchased the PDF chart from CrossStitchCharts.co.uk. I'm looking at the PDF now and wow, there are a lot of colors! XStitchLB - is your kit in Anchor or DMC floss? The other thing I was amazed with is how precise the floss key is - not only do they say the colors used, but how many stitches of each color, how much floss that equates to (in inches & cm's) and how many skeins...not a rounded number to the nearest skein, but down to 2 decimal places!
I don't know when I'll start to stitch this but I think it's going to be a fun challenge!

That is lovely. and it does look like something right out of Jane Austen (or Mary Balogh if you prefer a current Regency Author). The colors give it that "Romance" feeling too. I am looking forward to your next update.

I usually work with DMC floss but when I bought the kit they sent me Anchor floss, I just hope that they sent me enough because I don't have back ups for it.

I've had my eye on this chart too. I think it's lovely. There is a lot going on in it. You can weave stories about the various people at the ball!
You are doing a great job.

I will follow this thread with great interest.
How do you find the pattern to work with? Is it easy to follow?

What a difference the back stitch makes? It really makes it come alive doesn't it? I just finished a Sandi Littlejohn piece for the magazine, it will be out soon and I loved it, just wanted it to keep going, like stitching the next scene? As for how they are to stitch? Sandi's charts are a dream to stitch, easy but so much going on, so many characters, they do grow quickly.
Happy Stitching

It's very easy to follow, I have a color chart which makes it nice because it makes it easier to see where I'm at if I've lost my place

crafterglen which piece did you do of hers for the magazine? I really love her projects they are so full of life, I really like this project it seems like a Romance novel coming to life and the lady and gentleman in the middle are the lead characters

I would be interested to know that too.
As for the lady and gentleman in the middle, I like to think they could be Elizabeth and Darcy. (I'm an incurable romantic!)
Thankyou for the assurance the pattern is easy to follow. Another one on my wishlist!

Great start!!
I'm doing this one as well - in DMC and using silk/rayon for the dresses and coats (the ones in the forefront) its great to stitch. I MUST get back to it, its been on the back burner for a while and I'm just over halfway along.
I'm eyeing up the Ascot one as well.
