I am wondering what type of thread I should use for beeds. I read somewhere that you can use regular floss in a matching color, but I imagine that a seethrough, thin nylon type of thread could be useful where the beads are on their own, away from the stitching. Is there such a thread and where can I find it, please?

I use a fine .004 polyester monofilament thread for all my beading. It works great and doesn't show. My favorite brand is "Sulky Invisible Thread" I bought an economy sized spool for US$8.00. I've used it to sew on close to 2000 beads and there is still a lot more left on the spool, so it's economical. I don't know if Sulky is available where you are, but you should be able to find a similar product wherever machine and regular hand sewing threads are sold.

I use this invisible thread from YLI. I am not sure if you can get this brand where you are, but I'm sure you could find something like it. It works very well for beads, and you can't see it at all once you are done stitching.

I've tried using invisible thread and very fine strong silk thread, and I can't get on with either I'm afraid . So I use one strand of stranded cotton, generally to match the fabric so that works for solitary beads as well. If the beads are very light and transparent I will use a thread to match the beads, unless the fabric is white or offwhite anyway in which case I'll use that.

I use regular cotton because I find the nylon thread really slippery and a pain to handle.

i just use the regular floss in the color of the bead...
