Anywaysss.

While I've made absolutely no progress on any of the other projects I'd been working on, I fell in love with this chart in the christmas special issue of enjoy Cross Stitch, called Playful Puppies by Joan Elliot.

It's my first attempt at a non-kitted xstitch, so hopefully it goes okay... ^^;

I haven't gotten too far on it yet, but hope to get more done before too long.

I love the puppies as well, especially the westie (?) and the brown/black terrier-esque one!

I'm a bit nervous though - while I'm sure the regular xstitch will go fine, it'd be my first time attempting to use metallic thread and beads... Well, first time for everything, right?

That is a wonderful chart and you have made a great start. There is no difference between a kit and doing it youself except that you have to get the threads etc. Pretend its a kit that you bought and you won't notice anything. The puppies are so cute it will be great fun to do. I am looking forward to your updates.

Brother's being a brat and won't let me borrow one of his many memory cards to take a decent photo using an actual camera, so had to use phone's shoddy one again.

but still a great update. You are going well with this one and it is gorgeous that is for sure. Might just keep an eye out for this mag when it gets into our shops. are you hoping to do it for Christmas?

Hm, to be honest I'm not entirely sure. My cross-stitching desire comes and goes so who knows what can happen! It'd be a miracle if I did finish by xmas, though!

I think I'm on 14ct aida ... To be honest, I just picked out at random a piece of fabric that seemed large enough for the design. I do know, however, that it IS aida.

I'm also using DMC 6-strand floss.
