I did the middle design several years ago for my dad, but he's a great procrastinator and had yet to get it framed so I had the idea to put it in a lap tray like this. I sewed the words best pops on lovely fabric pieces I'd seamed, with waste canvas, my first real time using it with Caron waterlillies floss. I think it's worked well, even if the dog is on aida!
The dog design is a Jeanette Crew Tailwaggers design, when I started to do cross stitch I found many kits from this and the cattitudes series, not realising that they were rip offs,

since I realised it recently I have bought many of the series so I feel less bad about the whole copyright issue! I do love these desgins, so easy and fun to stitch, great for some light work!

What an absolutely amazing finish

The fabrics complement the little dog beautifully, and what a great idea to frame it in such a useful item as a lap tray!
Was it a special one with room for a piece of stitching? Or did you use an ordinary one? Is the stitching covered with glass/perspex? (It seems to be, from the picture) I'd be very interested to hear how you did this, it looks like just the thing for several Christmas presents next year!

I don't know if that will work, if it does you have to scroll down as the item has ended.
Anyway it was a lap tray you can personalise, it came with a mount for photographs which I took out, and a glass cover. It hass a zip around the bean bag so you can getbinto the tray bit.
I was very pleased to find it as it is just what my dad needs, and I found him stealing mine the other day!
Thank you for the compliments, I was very pleased with the result myself
