Hi,after reading lots of your posts talking about your HAEDs I took the plunge and had a look myself. WOW it took me hours to go through the wonderful charts, but I did eventually choose one. I ordered SIDS by Wendy Kathleen and have just printed the charts off,oh my there are 25 pages of charts!!! I eventually managed to find the centre point but am unsure which way the charts run? I'm also wondering the best way to start ie: from centre out,top left then across and down? I can't wait for my fabric and floss to arrive,I'm chomping at the bit to get started. My plan is to sell this at auction with the money raised going to SIDS in the memory of my nephew Eddie who sadly died 15/06/2011 aed 4 months

So I am going to need all the support I can get from this fab forum!

Congratulations on your first chart progress - stitching for a very worthy cause
In answer to your question - HAED charts run from left to right top to bottom - each page has a page number in brackets which shows you which pages are adjacent to it. Also you will see the stitch count going across and down each page which will help you to work out where you are.
You can start where ever you want as long as you remember what page and don't get lost! Personally I start in the top left hand corner (page 1) and work across finishing the width of the design - so working the pages in numerical order really! Some stitchers start in the bottom corners and work up. I've never started in the middle and worked out (though other stitchers have) - I would worry that I had mucked up calculating the middle or something!
I hope that you will post lots of progress pics so we can help cheer you on!

What a lovely chart you have and what a wonderful goal.
I just wrote about the same thing that Mrs MBK did so I won't repeat it. I also start with page 1 and work across the top of the page and when that row is completed move down to the next row beginning with the left again. That is the best way for me to feel comfortable that I haven't miscounted in calculating. I started stitching that way long before I discovered HAED charts as I never was one to like starting in the middle. I guess I messed up once or twice early on and just switched to the top left for starts. I will repeat though that I hope you will post lots and lots of progress pics so we can encourage and praise and cheer you on. These are like any other chart. One stitch at a time.

Oh dear, sorry to hear about the health hiccups! Several people in my family have Meniere's and it can be so debilitating.
There's a thread about posting pictures in threads
here. (I use Webshots myself and really like them)
