New project.

So I had fun stitching a little freebie kit after my first project.
Freebie.
Then I finally chose this design for my second project:
New project picture
The reason for choosing this one finally is that the dolphin kit I had first thought of is a coloured chart. I dont like the look of the chart to be honest, so I'll try that one another time.
Also, this fabric is 'Fiddlers cloth', an unprinted evenweave, which I've never used before, so I thought I'd give it a try.
It's very stiff, but anyhow, so far it's ok.
Here's my first progress picture, I've only just started of course.
Starting on the cat.

So here we go again! Lets hope I don't get too many visits from ...

I like that design, Threadbear. Is it going to be a gift?

Good design (although look at the backstitch

). I've used Fiddler cloth before now and the stiffness actually seems to help in the stitching. Use a needle big enough so that the eye slightly pushes the fabric threads to help the floss through the hole. Size 28 for 14ct should do it.

Thank you all.
Yes,
IF it comes out ok, then I thought I may do it as a gift for the friend who gave me the 'stash'.
At the moment my problem is seeing the difference in the cats colours as I stitch. The light tan and creamy colour are very similar. Then there is ivory to go in as well. It's nice to stitch so far at anyrate. I'm enjoying it.

The teddy is very cute and a nice relief from a big project. Quick and easy makes us feel we are pro's.
The kitty is going to be great. I like the border and the quilt the cat looks very relaxed.

Today's progress picture
The cat colours are almost finished, just a few bits left.
Now it's done you can see the colours differences easier. I have put up a darker picture to try and show them better.
I like this cloth, it's very easy to stitch on.

But it does tend to fray more I've found.
So far, I'm really enjoying this and can't wait to see it grow.

That's why God made masking tape.

Little bottles of Fray Check are very good too, but make sure it drys well away from any other fabric
I over sew my edges, I do it in advance, usually when I am too tired to do little X's.

That is a lot of good work done in a very short amount of time. You will have this one done in a week if you keep going that fast. It looks lovely by the way.

Thank you.
I'm using two strands of floss, though the back stitch will be in one strand.
I'm really finding this nice to sew. I haven't been able to spend as much time on it in the last couple of days as I would have liked, but it's still progressing okay.
This is as far as I am at the moment:
Updated picture
I was looking at the back stitch, it's in different colours and some is over one square and some isn't, so it will be a challenge to me to get it right. So I'm looking forward to having a go at that, but for now, onwards with the stitching!
