Dragons for baby's room - update 14 Jun

Sorry I haven't been around much since finishing White Horses. Life has kept me busy with other stuff - including my pregnancy! I'm 6 months along and we decided baby girl's room is going to be dragon-themed. Her crib will sit along a big wall where I visualize a "flight" of dragons.

The centerpiece will be The Guardian by Teresa Wentzler (see gallery for pic). Here is Stretch, a TW freebie, still unfinished because I want to put some words around him. Not sure if I'll make it a sampler with baby's name & birthdate, or put some clever dragon quote around him.

And this week I finished A Dragon's Lullaby, designed by Jennifer L. Aikman-Smith (available at PatternsOnline.com). I changed up some of the threads & colors from the pattern. I'm going to get this one framed.

A few weeks ago I ordered 2 more dragon patterns that won't take too long to stitch up from Picture This Plus. They are both FireWing Designs:

- Danger! Cool: http://www.picturethisplus.com/store/pr ... anger-cool" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank

- Paladin: http://www.picturethisplus.com/store/pr ... ng-paladin" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank

There's been a delay in the shipment because of the hand-dyed 28 ct Lugana I ordered to go with them but should arrive next week. I need to get moving because I want to get them both stitched up before baby comes mid-July!

I will most likely want more cross-stitched dragons in her room (because it's SO hard to find dragon baby stuff!) but not sure which patterns I'll add to the bunch yet.

Congratulations :stork:

:applesauce: Stretch is lovely, as is the Dragon Sampler. :applesauce:
What a clever and original theme for a baby's room. I love the ones you have chosen to do and now have bookmarked another designer (as if I needed more). Unfortunately the only dragons I can think of right now are the HAED dragons of all sorts but those won't get done quickly.

Katiespark did a Dragon Bingo last fall and there were some great charts, not all HAEDs, and designers of dragon charts in it. Might give you some ideas.

I seem to remember seeing some charts somewhere of cartoony dragons in nappies.

Will see if I can remember where :thinks:

Congrats on the baby!

Stretch is brilliant, I have that chart saved and it's really good to see it stitched up!

Best of luck with the dragon search. I just purchased a dragon Alphabet from SewandSo.

I obviously got the last one but I'm sure they will be back in stock soon. The picture doesn't do it justice.

Also Joan Elliot has a lovely dragon that I've got kitted up soon to go, the chart was in a book of hers but you can get it separately.

Very pretty! I love the idea of the dragon theme nursery. Have you seen the Dragonlets Birth Sampler from Dragon Dreams? My sister made it for my oldest when she was born.

Ooh, congratulations on the baby, and what a lovely theme for baby's room. I'd have loved to do that for my son, but DH isn't as keen on dragons and fantasy and would have squashed me flat had I suggested that. For some bigger ones, maybe as baby gets older, have you looked at the Randal Spangler draglings charts on HAED? They're so funny and cute.

Paladin is now halfway done! I decided to go with a dark grey floss (DMC 413) for the dragon because the one DMC variegated floss I tried looked crappy. I like the grey because it pulls out the black highlights in the Eek! fabric from Picture This Plus.

Please excuse the wrinkles from my hoop...and I had was mistaken earlier - this is 28ct Cashel linen not Lugana. My first time working with linen and I haven't had any problems with it.
