I'm getting closer and closer to Alice's eye and I'm not sure how to use this thread. I've never used it before. On the chart it has it's own symbol so I know it's not blended with anything. I was hoping someone could give me some tips. Since its braided do I unbraid it to use it, or leave it in the braid. Can I use the loop method to start or not?

Is it #4 braid? In that case you use it "as is". I'm afraid that means you can't use a loop start. If you haven't actually bought the thread yet, you could get a blending filament in the same colour and use it with a loop start -- it will be a little bit thinner than braid, but not much.

To your first question, no you do not unbraid the thread it is meant to be used as it is.
As to the second question you will need to refer to your chart instructions and see if you are to us 1 or 2 or 3 strands when you are stitching. the number of strands will determine if you can loop start or not. If the strands are an even number then yes you can start with a loop.
