Need help with spacing before starting a project!

I am not sure what to do here and need some opinions! :?

I have two patterns I want to stitch on one piece and then have them framed in one frame with two cut outs for the matting. Each image will be approximately 7"x10" -- how do I determine how much space to leave in-between the two of them?

Or, is it going to be difficult for someone to frame them properly since there will be two items on one piece. I know it's hard enough with one item sometimes -- will two make it impossible? Should I just do two separate ones and two frames?

Any help appreciated! Thanks!

These are the patterns I am doing:

It is possible to frame them together with the boarder going through them. You just have to leave enough space between them to do that. Mats can be cut in many different ways, it just depends on spacing and how much fabric you left for the framing.

The ammount of room you leave is up to you, you should aim for there to be at least 1 inch between the two images, but after that it's really at your discretion, just remember to leave the same around the outside edges plus another inch or so. All the framer will do is stretch it out as one piece then when cutting the mat they will cut two apature instead of a single apature.

I agree that you should be more then able to stitch them on the same fabric. If the framer is professional then it should be a snap. What you will need to decide is what amount of mat that you want and then if you want any fabric to show. So if you want the outside edge to be 2 inches all around the outside then you will want that same amount of distance between the 2 patterns. This means that you will want to double the space in between the designs so it would be 4. At least that is what I would do.

Thank you all for the replies! That is exactly what I needed to know! :D

I am going to stick with my original plan and stitch them onto one piece of fabric.

I'm making this for my daughter who just returned from her first 'big' trip -- she was in Russia with her college choir.
