This is the kit that was giving me fits back when I started in in 2010. It's the kit that led me to this forum for help and here I stayed
Yes, I'm still working on it and some of you may have seen that I recently brought it to the surface again and have been posting my progress in the UFO Club thread!
Here's what it will look like when finished:

As you can see it was supposed to be a stamped kit (which I had never done before) but I was having such a hard time stitching through the fabric. It was very frustrating so I came here looking for answers

. In the end, I decided to ditch the stamped fabric and venture into unkown territory...Evenweave! I chose a much smaller stitch count since I thought the original was too big anyway. Here's the comparison of the stamped vs. Evenweave:
Well, I continued to work on it for awhile...

At this point I put it away for a long while. I started a couple other kits (will post those, too

) and couldn't bring myself to work on this one again but really wanted to have it finished. Finally of few of you kind ladies told me about the monthly UFO Club so I've been revisiting this again.
Here is my most recent progress:

It looks so good! I have no experience with stamped cross stitch, but I get the feeling from the ladies here that it's no fun! It looks great on the evenweave, I love the birds and the colors! Great work.

You know, I never even thought about scrapping the fabric from stamped kits to do them as counted cross-stitch on aida or evenweave... I've passed up some cute designs simply because they were stamped...
Ayway, lovely work and great progress.

OMgosh, your've done so well
I'd never have thought to convert to evenweave fabric from a stamped kit. It's just stunning.
I'm glad you brought it out again, and it looksd so close to a finish ...
congrats ...

Well done!!
That's a lovely design and well worth all the effort of stitching on evenweave.
Clever clever girl!

So do the stamped kits come with a chart as well?
Blooming heck your stitching is neat!!!! Wow. It looks brilliant on the evenweave rather than the stamped fabric, and I love the cherries or berries, they are so neat as well. In like the juxtaposition of the two techniques.
Look forward to seeing more progress!

Yeah, they do. You have to be able to know where to put each color after all. And the stamping is done in a single color.

Beautiful work!! I don't know if I've ever heard of such a successful switch from stamped to counted with the same kit before.

Well done!

Thanks everyone! You know, until I drug out the old pictures to post on here, I actually forgot that this one started out as a stamped kit
That also reminded me that the original stitches called for 3 strands of floss( most of the background is a 2- color blend) and I, of course changed it to 2 for the Evenweave. I thought the blending may not look right since it called for 2 strand of one color, 1 strand of another but I think the 1 strand of each turned out fine) Other than that and of course making it smaller, no other changes were made and there haven't been any snags in the transfer of the design.
Now you don't have to pass on the stamped kits

It's really nice to know that info calico--I'd never bothered to check into seeing if the kits for the stamped cross stitch came with charts
