Where do you display yours?
When you have finished and framed your cross stitch do you struggle to find somewhere to hang them? I am quite minimalistic with things on my walls, so tend to group them together on the landing, which is now looking slightly mismatched and also I feel you put all that effort into creating these you want to put them somewhere to stand out. Just wondering what everyone else does especially those who have done lots and lots?
Re: Where do you display yours?
Well I haven't done lots and lots, and usually when I start a new project I know where it is going to go. It is rarely that I do a project without an end in mind for it.

I am the type that makes my stitching into presents and give them away. I just created a new thead at the top of this section, it is called Usual and Un-usual finishes. In there myself and some other members show different ways to make your stitching user friendly. Some other ways to complete a project other then framing.
If you are looking for some one to help change you, look in the mirror

Re: Where do you display yours?
I tend to stitch seasonal things like Christmas Angels or flower fairies...I haven't completed them all yet but my plan is to rotate them depending on the season
Come November 12 I plan on putting up all my Christmas cross stitchings and after new years when everything is being put away I will tuck them into a safe spot that's easily accessible for friends or family who want a look.
I also try to think of where I would hang the cross stitch when it is done. One project I want to do in the future is some Stitch a Star or movie related cross stitchings my family likes and hang them in our media room. My auntie stitched me Captain Jack Sparrow already and it is amazing all of the details that are in him! I love it

Re: Where do you display yours?
I tend to do larger projects for the most part so don't have that many finished pieces. I have one hanging in each of my daughter's rooms and one in the upstairs hall. I've also made Christmas stockings for each of my daughters. That's actually all of my completed works I have in my house, although I do have several pieces that were stitched for me by other people (a wedding sampler done for us by my youngest sister in the dining room, a welcome sign in the front room and a birth record in my oldest daughter's room by my middle sister, and an alphabet piece by my Mom in my youngest daughter's room). It seems that I have more pieces done for my than by me!
I never really plan where I'm going to put a piece. I just stitch them because I enjoy the design and the process. That's probably why I have a stack of finished smaller pieces that I haven't done anything with yet.

Re: Where do you display yours?
I stitched only afghans for years because my walls are mostly filled with my husband's paintings and I think I have 3 framed pieces also. With afghans I either gave them to family or use them to cover cat scratched furniture. Or as afghans. Now I am doing more larger pieces and am looking at some rooms with more blank space available. But it is going to be a while before I have any large ones and the smaller pieces (like my L*K*s) will fit in between the others.

Re: Where do you display yours?
Most of my projects I've made have been given away as gifts. But I do have a magnet, needle book and a couple bookmarks I stitched up that I've kept for myself. My two big WIPs are going to go up on my walls though, which currently have nothing on them.

Re: Where do you display yours?
I have two on my walls at the moment and a variety of bookmarks, coasters, christmas ornaments etc that are used. I tend to pick big pieces where I have an idea where they will hang, though having said that I've started the Papillon Sal with no idea about that one, save that it will be framed and hung somewhere, it's too pretty not to

Re: Where do you display yours?
I haver a lot less wall space since moving into my granny flat. I wanted my computer in a certain area of the main room so put a large wall unit across as a room divider. DS backed the unit with a piece of chip board and put some picture railing on it so I now have a great place to show my smaller stitchings and the larger pieces go in one corner of the room.

I'm with the majority, I tend to give a lot of pieces away. But I will likely hang some pieces once I finish them. Like Rose I'll try and think of a functional use for a piece.

Re: Where do you display yours?
EXCEPT for the Christmas ornaments that I had made PAST 1983, when I got started, ALL my projects have been GIFTS, from 1984-present.
I just FINISHED a 12x16 picture of a wolf mother/cub scene for my hubby and a special friend's child, and the one for hubby will be hung OVER the entertainment tv center, in the living room, next to the front door.
After I get the NEXT 2 projects as gifts done, 14 In Loving Memory Remembrances, and 9 afghans, for MYSELF, I have PLANNED, for my computer/sewing room, The Lord's Supper AND a Cross stitching Angel, in a rocking chair, cross stitching herself.
HAPPY STITCHING IN STITCHING LAND.

Re: Where do you display yours?
i hang mine in my hallways and they are hanged like canvas framed pieces.
Re: Where do you display yours?
Most of mine are framed and on the walls in my house. Some I give away as presents, and I have a few in boxes waiting to be framed or finished in some way, some are gifts, and the ones that are mine have a spot waiting for them for when I finally frame them.
Then again, I don't have a lot of big finishes, as previously I did a lot of small work like kitchen towels, so those are easily stored away.
