Help - spilt milk

Hi, I'm just looking for some advice. I spilt some milk on a part finished cross stitch last night and don't know how to clean it. It is a large piece of work so I don't think I can leave it until the whole thing is finished (I'm due twins next week so will not have much stitching time!!) The spill is only on the fabric, not on any of the stitching. Hope someone can advise me

Thanks, Carolyn

As long as you aren't stitching with any hand dyed threads or fabric you should be able to hand wash the piece with no problems. Just a little dish soap in a sink full of water should do. Some people actually wash their pieces in the washing machine without a problem, but I've never been brave enough to try it. If you're worried about any of your threads bleeding color you can always test a small piece first. There's actually a whole thread in the Tips and Tricks section on how to wash you projects.
HTH.
Good luck with the milk and the twins!

Hi Carolyn and

Welcome.
I would say the same as Mechie , just a gentle wash, even if it is only over the spilt area, as its not an area with stitching in it as yet. Warm (not hot) water with a drop of dish washing liquid or hand soap and then lay it flat on a towel to dry. Should work.

with the twins, that will surely keep you busy but do try and find a bit of time to relax with your stitching.
