Hey! I'm the loud one that usually gets banned from forums through NO FAULT of my own. I'm just really bad at remembering rules - thankfully I think I can remember these rules well enough!

I've cross stitched on and off for a few years and I really want to get back into it and start doing some larger designs, which I've never done before. I usually prefer card sized designs due to a short attention span...

I also design Cross Stitch Patterns and sell them on Etsy. Am I allowed to mention this? I just wanted to say that they're fun! I love coming up with new ones for my favourite TV shows, like Doctor Who. I just have to get round to actually stitching some of my designs!

At the moment I'm working on a small treehouse design and hope to have that finished tonight.

P.S. My avi is a pirate because the photo system is so restrictive I ended up typing '80 x 80' into Google and went with the smallest...

I've lost count of how many times I've been banned somewhere for nothing But the rules here are pretty simple and the mod is very fair and would prefer to have a quiet word with you rather than banhammer you I don't think she even uses a hammer!

You are most certainly allowed to mention your etsy shop, I believe you are even allowed to place a link in your signature, you're just not allowed to use the site for outright advertising. Stick around and you'll quickly see the difference ^_^ Huge dr who fan here. I'm currently re-watching tom baker episodes waiting for the new series to start, I really like your tardis chart! Leaving your shop open for my other half to look at when he comes down ^_^

I just haven't got round to watching it. I'm a bit OCD and when I watch or read a series, I cannot miss a single episode... and there's an awful lot of Who to watch... While I could just watch from the 10th Doctor on... I'd go crazy knowing there were 9 series before it that I hadn't watched. Maybe some day I will get around to it...

If it's any help, 9th Doctor onwards is meant to appeal to a whole new generation, the ones who haven't seen the previous series. I haven't seen most of the early episodes! I plan to start but good god, the early ones are SO BAD and boring to boot. I have literally seen 3 episodes of the first series and then fell asleep...

Hi, im new here too. I hope to start doing some larger pieces myself. Ill have to check out ur store, i only just joined there yesterday as i saw a pattern for one direction that i want to stitch for my cousin.

Original doctor Who and new doctor who are pretty much different shows. The early ones aren't bad, but they're nothing like the new ones. As is the case with most things from it's time, the original doctor who was conversation...lots and lots of conversation. It treated it's audience as though they had an attention span and intellegence. The dialogue is clever and witty but you need to have the knowledge to understand why it's clever. New doctor who actually throws away a lot of the old doctors rules, makes up new ones and has a whole different pace going. It's very with the times and the focus is more on action and simple humour. Both are very good, but they're not really comparable to each other, and there's no way that you can watch the whole thing anyway. A lot of it no longer exists. You see, back inthe 60's and 70's the BBC (and many other stations) were under the impression that no one would want to watch the shows again, so to save money and space they taped over a lot of their shows. In the 80's they stopped and in the ninerties when they first tried to revive it (Eye of harmony wtf?) they kinda figured that they'd need these shows back. If only so they kept with the plot. When they finally rebooted the show they had started collecting the old series back, buying it from other countries, peoples carboots. Heck we have one episode where they could find the sound but there's no video footage so they just used stills Which is actually quite ingenious.

But the bottom line is, old doctor who....probably wouldn't appeal to anyone who watched new doctor who first. I watched tom baker, grew up on him, and I'm an avid fan of old sci-fi annyway. So if you do go back and look for them, do so with your eyes open because they will send most people to sleep, especially when you realize that most original Dr Who plots are multi parters. I don't think Tom Baker has any plots that are less than 4 parts, and there's virtually no action in the entire thing. Brilliant show though and well worth a watch if you can get your hands on it and you are a fan of old sci-fi. But not something for everyone. New doctor who doesn't even pick up where old doctor who left off anyway. I mean in the last thing they put out (a film) The doctor was taking the master from skaro to Galifrey after he had been executed on his 13th cycle so he could never again regenerate...so he possessed a body, tried to steal the doctors and fell into the eye of harmony where he was destroyed. First episode of new doctor who and there is no Galifrey, and no Skaro, and no time lords. Fast forward a bit and the master is once again back.If you watched the whole thing as one show it just wouldn't make any sense. *Is such a Dr Who Geek*

My BFF has all of what they've re-released of the old series, so getting my hands on it isn't an issue. I watched a lot of old American sci-fi growing up, mostly stuff that was current at the time (80s) but also a lot from the 60s & 70s.

Awesome, we've got it all too and it's so worth a watch! I absolutely love it. But you're most likely to find me gravitating towards Tom Baker than the others. How you can be melancholy and happy at the same time is a mystery to me, but he manages it. But don't think of it as the same show, especially because they're contemplating throwing out the whole "Each time lord is given thirteen lives" bit that has been there since the first regeneration and is mentioned on a fairly regular basis.

Totally different shows, but it's good to go back over it all. For example there's an episode where Baker meets the first ever Darlek and finds out just exactly why they are what they are. It's never again mentioned except once in a passing comment that I can't even remember properly. Something about them being built wrong. I think it's to Martha in the 1920s episode. But it doesn't really matter, virtually everything that happened before is either told again to a new companion or not brought up at all, it's done this way so that you don't have to watch the old show to fall in love with the new. In fact, I'd say watch the old show AFTER watching the new.

I must admit, old Doctor Who is probably not for me, I need to be kept entertained or I'll start breaking things (I'm joking. Honest.) so the action of new who is great! My favourite Doctor will always be the Tennant though.

I can't wait to see what they bring out for the 50th anniversary!

Doesn't surprise me. Old doctor who was very much for the time it was made in. It's VERY socio political of the time. New doctor who is very much for it's time. TV in this day and age is very much catering to the theory of attention spans only being 5 minutes long, which is why tv is so fast paced these days, tv back then was different. It's actors were not the young sort who could run around doing stunts, tv didn't really have the money or capabilities for special effects and audiences wanted to engage their brains rather than switch off and be entertained. And both doctor whos reflect their times. They're both fantastic for their target audience, it's just the target has shifted ^_^

Hey, I'm happy talking about Doctor Who!

I only saw the first three or possibly two and they are very slow for me. Not much in the way of action and really comes up short in the way of dialogue too. Everything seems very cheesy - can't fault that due to the era - and the acting overall is very over-the-top and wooden. Less cerebral more... complete rubbish really. But clearly it appealed to it's audiences at the time, when Television was just starting to become a household thing, which is the main thing.

On a side note, I have no idea why the womenfolk have to squeal so much.
