New Member from California

Hello everyone. My name is Joy and I'm looking to start on cross stitching again. Last time I cross stitched was, 10 years ago. I've made many small projects and left them in my home country.

Coming to USA 15 years ago, I realized that, there are not a lot of actual cross stitch boutiques with huge selection of patterns and supplies. I've never seen a decent shop here in Los Angeles. Michael's..., yeah I'm not going there anymore.

Nice to meet you everyone!

 Hello and welcome from South Carolina. I hope that you will start stitching again and show us some of your work. It is hard to find a good local store that carries supplies and patterns. Michael's leaves much to be desired. If there is a Joann's near you or a Hobby Lobby, you could try those. For the widest variety, on line stores may be your best choice. One, here in the States, that gets wonderful reviews is 123 Stitch. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Hi Joy
Welcome to the Forum. I am surprised you do not have any stitching shops where you live . When I visited the USA about 20 odd years ago I found loads of patterns and threads in supermarkets, We were on the East coast if that makes a difference.
I've found the net pretty good for threads.... Ann

Hi Joy, welcome to the forum!

Not sure exactly where you are in the LA area, but this is where I used to shop when I lived in So Cal... It used to be a really great shop and judging by its website, it still looks pretty good! :)

Thank you for the warm welcome!

I'll check out the Garden Grove shop soon enough, when I venture out in the area.

Already have my eye set on a project I needed to do..., but I'm still looking/finding where to get the pattern for it.

Not sure how helpful this is since the shop is up here in Nor Cal. But this is a great shop and they do ship to you. the ladies are very helpful and do all sorts of activities during the year. You can get their news letter if you are interested.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada! :)

A lot of the shops in Canada and the U.S. have disappeared or reduced stock like Michaels and Walmart. Online stores are your best bet these days. Try those already suggested, plus http://www.123stitch.com/.
