Right I have finally got round to purchasing my cross stitch kit - what do people think http://www.past-impressions.co.uk/begin ... floral-kit
I'm slightly that I may have gone for something a bit too difficult as it has shading, which is surely a difficult task?

I will keep this thread updated with my progress as I feel I may need some advice

What pretty flowers!

Shading just means that you have x's in different shades of each color. Doesn't make the stitching itself any more difficult. It's all just on x at a time!

Besides, we're always here to answer questions if you get stuck.

Oh! That is so pretty! It's going to make a gorgeous first project...

One x at a time is all it takes. Changing thread colors when the symbols change on the chart. 11ct aida is a comfortable size to start with. Just a bit of backstitch for charm and detail.

If I had my time to start again I would do more different types of quick, simple stitches (like samplers) before tackling anything bigger. The reason is that you learn so much by doing ... and when you learn on a BAP you either have a lot of unpicking and restarting to do or you live with the mistake - which is what I did 2 BAP that I now would love to change what I did on heaps. But the most important thing is HAVE FUN.

Congrats on picking what looks like a very good kit for a beginner. Really, the only bad kit is one that you do not want to do.

2 Persevere
