So when I went to bed last night after finishing my birth announcement thinking that I would like to do a book mark for my friend. Now the way I see this bookmark its similar to the birth announcement, using the same patches look. My questions are: is it okay to use some of the pattern for the bookmark? And how do you plan out designs? I don't have any programs on my laptop for design making. I do know that the piece of sparkly fabric that I want to use is 13 inches long by 3 inches tall, which I still haven't figured out how much stitching space I actually have

Well the stitching size will depend on
1) the size of the fabric ie 14ct, 16 ct 22ct??????
2) how you intend to finish the book mark ie will you just fray check the edges, or make some kind of hem, or sew lace on to the edges.

Once that is established then you can figure out how much actual stitching space you have.
