Newbie questions

Hello everyone, ok I have just literally picked up cross stitching I have started with a mouseloft elephant kit (very basic) it tells me to use 2 threads but what I wonder do I double this over? Or do I leave it an inch or so spare at the end of the needle. I hope this makes sense. Thank you, Mercy xx

Take ONE strand and fold it in half == 2 strands Then thread the needle

Then do a loop start Like in the link
