Dont bother with the DMC- too wiry and it frays and is just generally a pain to stitch with.

I would switch it out for Rainbow Gallery Petite Treasure Braid in either White Pearl (PB 10) or Snow (PB 23)

I use the Kreinik. As long as I keep the lengths cut short enough, I don't have a problem with it. I think a lot of folks sub it out for Petite Treasure Braid though...

I use krenik as it was my first taste of metallics other then DMC. Since DMC is devil thread I was quite happy to find Krenik and I use it quite often. Yes you should keep it a bit shorter but it lays well for me.

I get along with Kreinik, but Maggie's suggestions is a good option.

When I first tried using the kreinik, it drove me mad but that's only because I was trying to use two strands. When I only used one strand and used thread heaven on it, it worked just fine. On one piece that does call for it I did use 3865 though because it's on the face and I didn't think a face should be all blingy and shiny.

I switch out the Kreinik for PTB as I always have PB10 in my stash and it is cheaper than Kreinik (in the UK anyway!), but it depends on the chart - I'm thinking of subbing it for plain old B5200 in my next start as there are huge blocks of it in the sky and I'm not sure about it :thinks: !

Iv started an haed doing 25 count 2 threads over one. I am using kreinik #4 but use it 1 thread over 1 and use thread heaven. A good needle as helps. Believe me I ruined my material trying to do it other ways. Michelle from HEAD did tell me that the kreinik can be substituted for another colour, obviously you'll have less bling. Good luck
