Help me plan my trip!

Ok, so we are going on a big family trip this summer and I NEED to add a couple of stitch shops into the mix. I don't seem to be having any luck searching the dear old internet for actual shops along our route. My magazines list a few, here and there, but I'd like to make a more comprehensive list just in case some of those shops listed don't exist anymore. Can anyone point me in the direction of some sites that might help me with this oh, so VERY important part of my trip planning?. We're driving from Illinois southwest to Utah, back north through Yellowstone and then eastward toward home.

Organized alphabetically- not by state. So you'll have to slog through it and Google maps to figure out if they are near your route.

Also, take a look at some designers websites, or fabric/ fancy floss suppliers. Find the list of where their products are sold. That will give you a list of shops to try. Also Yarn Tree- they are a needlework supplier in IA.. they have a list of LNS's somewhere on their site.

Also, if there is a LNS shop near you- ask them. They'll often know of other shop owners from buying conventions, needlework guilds, etc. Oohh.. yeah.. try and find the state guilds- they will know what stores are in business.

Happy shopping.. websearching.. and vacationing

Welcome Stitchery in Crystal Lake is a member of the Needlecraft Showcase network. I went to their site and found this page: http://www.stitching.com/mall.cfm" target="_blank

Stitcher's station in Hillsboro Il is definitely worth a stop looks small from the outside but its 2 floors jam packed with goodies. The owner is very sweet and helpful too :-) I live a lot closer to her now but when I lived over by the river it was well worth the hour long drive just to visit. I cannot recommend it highly enough. She will help you any way she possibly can if you get fabric she will surge the edges immediately, just outstanding customer service.

I hope you will be reporting back on the places you visit (besides the stitching shops, of course). I will be interested in what you think of 123 Stitch. From the website I picture a huge warehouse, but looking at it from Google, it doesn't seem big enough to have more than a few items. :?

I can highly recommend The Sunflower Seed in Topeka, Kansas, and Nordic Needle in Fargo, North Dakota. Well worth a stop. Bring your credit cards!
