I'll tape my edges.. yes, yes your not supposed to, leaves residue and whatever else.. but it will be cut off when I am done and I don't care if my pieces are around in 10 years.. let alone 100 years.
Or I roll them up and clip them with one of those black office supply clips
But lately, because I use Q Snaps with covers, I just roll it up and tuck it under the cover. It stays outta the way and the edges don't fray because its all under the cover and not being handled.

In the "good ol' days" I just used masking tape. Then I joined here & found out that it isn't "archieval quality" & that I *should* either zig-zag sew it on a machine or hand stitch....but I don't (& believe it or not, I picked up a new roll of masking tape today so I could start on a project!)

So, just like Maggie, I'm a tape-er.

I use masking tape too and I allow an extra inch or two of fabric all round (in addition to the usual 3") so that when it's cut off there's still enough of a border for the framing.

Thanks everyone will have to try maskin tape but do like the look of q snap frames unfortunately my design is too big. Although found that now you can get clips for the roller frame which I have hiding somewhere so might av to dig it out x

I use medical tape (it's fabric and sticks well but also comes off easily without leaving residue). Buy it from the chemist :D

I've been using a fray blocker (can't remember the brand name right now) and it's been working for me.

I paint the edges with clear nail polish. Works a treat.
