Beginner's question on over-dyed linen

Hi friends, I am just starting my first foray into overdyed fabrics and floss. I just received a nice piece of Cashel Linen in the color "Days Gone By". This is a light color with splotches all over it. I think it will be perfect for my small Halloween pieces.

The fabric arrived in the mail and it is REALLY very wrinkled. I would like to iron it, but don't know if I should. Usually, I iron linen with the steam setting, and even spray it with water to really get the cloth smooth. What should I do with this new piece? Will using a cover cloth help? I am afraid the steam will affect the way the dye looks on the piece.

Any help will be most appreciated! thanks

Hi there! That's a Silkweaver fabric, isn't it? If so, it says on their website that it is washable, so it should be fine to use a steam iron on it... If it's some other brand, yuu could always test with a little water along the edge and see how it reacts. Have fun, I love hand dyed fabrics! :)
