Finally found one

I have been looking for a stand that would work for me. I have tried many many floor stands and never found a single one that has been to my liking. Can't tell you the money wasted on these many stands. I have gone to my LNS and tried a few others and yet none of them have been comfortable to me.
I had thought that maybe the lowery that you all are raving about might finally work but the expense and having to come from England was a detriment to me buying one. What if it was just like all of the others.
Well on my retreat week-end many of the ladies had stands

with so many options I tried as many as I could and in many different positions, sitting at the table, setting on the bed, and out side on the patio. The one that I found to work in all places is one that is a lap stand. I had tried the type that you sit on and I can not use them as they hurt my back. Only 2 floor stands were there and they were ones I had already tried.
But the one that I found works for me is called a K's Creation Z Lap Stand. It is just wonderful. I can use it on a table and also in my recliner and it can be set at so many different angles. It is just the trick for me.
And then when you are done or if you want to travel with it you can fold it flat.
I just love this new stand and it is fantastic to use. I had to get the clamp for my q-snaps but it is so nice to have a stand and my stitching seems to have speed up a bit with this new toy......
If anyone is interested I bought it from this site.

Oh that looks a nice one Rose. I shall bear that in mind. Like you, I have not found stands easy or comfortable to use.

Thanks for the info! I'm currently looking into various setups and this was a great review. I'll be seriously considering this one whenever I'm able to invest in a stand. I think I would like the portability.

I'm glad you found something that works for you! I haven't found anything comfy yet, either. I guess I'll have to go on a retreat

Wasn't it great that you were able to try out so many in real life at the retreat -- there really is no substitute for having a play with a stand!
I'd heard of this brand, and it looks really good, glad you've found one that works for you!

A nice solid and practical stand Rose. Made of oak too....that'll last a while!
I wish you many
comfortable stitching hours with that!

Yes please, it would be great to see pictures of it being used in different places.
Also, does it allow you to rotate so you can get to the back while working?

I love these stands Rose. I have the original one with the adjustable base. Clamps for my q-snaps and a 13" scroll frame. It will hold clamped on both sides up to an 8" and 11" q-snap (6"is to small) and if I happen to want a bigger one I can attach the extra upright arm from the scroll frame to one side take the clamp off the other side and then slide the base under my legs to hold it. It would bring the work almost under my chin if I needed it that close and the clamps hold great.

I will see if I can get someone to take a picture of me as I am using it.
Yes the knob on the side that holds the clamp is were you loose it so that you can flip-flop and get to the back of your work.

Great that you've found a stand that works. I'm drooling over the Ergo stand by Artisan Designs, but given it's only sold in the US and it's a bit pricey, I'm going to be saving for a while before I take a stand plunge.

Looks a very nice lap stand. I wonder if attaching a beanbag to the bottom might not make it even more comfortable?

I have seen some like that.
If it was detachable ...even better.
