Subtle Metalics

I'm working on a beautiful design by Laura Perin[1] though I've made a few substitutes with the color palette. Part of the design calls for metallic threads but I'm not a huge fan of anything sparkly[2]. I'm thinking of just subing it out for a goldish DMC (probably 680 or 3829) unless anyone has any ideas on what to use that would capture the same feel without looking too gaudy.
Thanks!

But I'm using Caron's Olive Grove instead of Silk n' Color's Limehouse, so my design leans more towards blue/indigo than green/lime.
[2]The only sparkly embroidery I have done was for a sci-fi convention costume.

I think I'd at least try it with the substitution and see how you like it. I've often subbed out threads when I didn't like something.
