I am a COMPLETE beginner. I just started yesterday. Lol

I started in the middle, and that was pretty easy it seemed, but now that I'm going off to the sides of it, there are boxes that have 2 colors in it. For example, a triangle in the top left corner, with a / going through it(like I put a back stitch there), and then a heart in the bottom right of that corner.

What do I do in those squares? Do I put a strand of each color in the needle and go through it like that? do i do a complete cross stitch with one color and then when I change to a different color i do another cross stitch on top of it again?

I hope that made sense, lol and I apologize if this question has been asked.

Those are what are called fractional stitches and some place in your directions it "should" tell you how they would want you to do these. But I say should and that does not always happen. Also everyone develops their own style of what they think looks good.

Some would do each of those as a half stitch. 2 colors going // side by side.

Some would do a 3/4 and a 1/4 stitch the dominate color being 3/4 and that is done with a 1/2 stitch / and then a small 1/4 stitch over the / and then with the minor color as a small 1/4 stitch in the leftover corner.

And then there is the way I like to do them and that is to make 2 3/4 stitches. I do the first color with the / and the small 1/4 stitch over the top of the / and then I will do the same thing a / stitch the same direction as the first one and a small 1/4 stitch from the open corner across the long stitch.

I had to deep dig into the world of google, but I found I just use a 1/4 with those. That's what I've been doing, and it has been working well.
