Hi, I had a question, I always use a hoop for stitching, I've watched plenty of u tube tutorials where no one ever uses a hoop, but I do, or have been, it just easier for me. Anyway I am working on a kit set book mark, its too narrow for a hoop, but it is annoying me. I did read somewhere that you could extend the fabric some how to get it into a hoop. Now I imagine that means sewing on two "flaps" on either side, this has a wee frill on it, on each side, and I have no sewing skills at all, nor do I have a sewing machine. (Gasp I know right?)

Any Ideas here? Or should i just en-devour with holding it in my hand?

try this; get a piece of fabric, preferably the same count as your bookmark, large enough for a hoop. cut a hole in it just a little smaller than the bookmark, leave enough room for the design and baste the bookmark to the fabric, just a simple running stitch.

That sounds like a good plan Cairee, thanks for that I have 14 count, but this is 16 count.

You can hand sew any type of fabric to your bookmark, count shouldn't matter as you won't be stitching on the added bits.

I am a non sewer, so when I have to baste one fabric to another I found that lining up the holes of 2 fabrics of the same count is an easy way to make sure it stays straight. for those who can keep it straight with other fabrics the count wouldnt matter.
