ballet girls finished

Finished my ballet girls over the weekend. Well, I say finished but they only have one dress each but I'll stitch some other dresses later. A girl can't have too many dresses, can she ?
I stitched this on 14 count Rustico Aida as it already looks like stage backing woodwork before I even put one stitch in.
Now I've finished playing, it's back to designing my wildflower notebook covers which have waited patiently to be continued while I played with dressing dolls

That's lovely Amanda
Are the girls' dresses on plastic canvas and can be changed?

Adorable, what do you mean they only have one dress, and that you would stitch them some more. Have you made something like a paper doll? How do the dresses attach, thats a really neat idea. Looks like they put on the wrong dresses, the wee girl in the blue dress has on pink ballet shoes and vice versa. They could swap cloths and still look good.

Perfect!! I can see any little girl loving those!!
They do remind me of the 'Old Bunty Days'
You are clever!

So clever Amanda! Brilliant.
Did you use the magnets to attach the dresses in the end? Is it going to be in a mag?

Hi All,
Thank you for your kind comments
The ballet girls "scene" is stitched onto Aida and they're both wearing leotards to protect their modesty.

The Aida is then stretched onto a 10" x 12" canvas. The other dresses are stitched onto plastic canvas with a magnet attached to the back of each and a corresponding magnet on the back of the canvas so they can be changed around.
WOCS magazine commissioned me to design one similar to this for a December or possibly January issue but I'm not allowed to show the finished design for obvious reasons!
Re the jacket: I'm glad you recognized it as angora, Squirrel!
There are a few more photos of the ballet girls as I was working on them on my blog over the past few months. The posts will have "ballet girls" in the title if anyone is interested to see them in working/design mode. There is also a complete set of outfits for them shown there.
I also thought they would be good to stitch as it would give stitchers the chance to choose their own colours from oddments of thread so they can have a bit of design input too. Plus the chance to add beads.....?!

Wow just seriously WHO knew this could be done. Not me, I am very impressed. I absolutely love the Idea, its so interactive. If ya had a large enough canvas, you could stitch a doll house, and have a change of clothes for each character in the house. That truly is very inventive. I looked through your blog, and I saw a wee girl with brown braids, and a very nice bright red dress. ADORABLE.

Oh and thank you for explaining, cause I was a little confused. Couldn't see how it was done. I was like HUH what she mean, I'll make new dresses for them lol.
