Carole's Hardanger: All coasters and a few cards finished!!!

Couldn't think of a better title. I always say that I don't like to make gifts for occasions because then I am under pressure to meet that goal and I tried to give up having goals and objectives when I retired. Anyway, I got this great idea to make coasters for my daughter, daughter-in-law and granddaughter. So, purchased Mabel's Round Dozen set of charts and am waiting for the post office to deliver the coasters I also got from her. (It was less expensive from Mabel, even with shipping, than buying 12 from 123Stitch and I checked a few other places, but no one had what I wanted either. Surprised me but then it was the same for the Lowery Stand). I am stitching 4 of them on 25 ct evenweave with silver sparkles (which you can hardly see) and the other 8 will be on 25 Count Stormy Clouds Lugana Fabric
Image Also got some thread. More coming.
I finished Autumn today and I think it looks okay. The Buttonwheels were easy to do when following the instructions but adjusting those to a smaller area was tricky. Some look really good, some are near embarrassing. If I have enough time and enough fabric, this may go into the redo pile.
Being honest, I will also admit that I stitched the dove's eyes and then double checked the chart and found they were supposed to be closer to the center, but I was not about to frog it and start over. I kind of like it that way. and Mabel does encourage creativity.

Will stick with these pieces until they are done. Despite how loud the HAEDs holler. 1 (maybe) done, 11 to go. "South" I think will be next.

Excellent finish on Autumn! I hope your needle behaves a little better for you in the next one, but I would call it one down for sure. :)

Thank you everyone.

When I read this I thought how hard it is to take your own advice sometimes. Seems like I am often reminding others of that same thing. "We are our own worst critics" aren't we?

Sort of. I used greens for the SOW summer months, but don't really love green in general. I found some really pretty purple shades and ordered them and might use them for Summer. I am planning on using the same 4 colors in each of the "Round" sets so we'll see how it goes. The seasons are the easiest.

I really do appreciate everyone's encouragement. This is so much more of a challenge to me than the most confetti filled HAED I have. But I love how these look and they really are a lot of fun to stitch!

Definitely! Your project, your decisions, your preferences. Actually the placement of the dove's eyes is like the bonus chart in the chart pack (only without the picots), so without realising it you are actually sticking to the chart pack after all... :-)

I love the colours you've chosen for this one, so warm and inviting! Hope the coasters will arrive soon.

Rotating through the different "Rounds". Haven't had a lot of help (I think they don't like the smaller pieces as much. I have noticed that before. ) Instead of trying to stitch, they both like to pretend I have x-ray vision and can see the charts through them.

I enjoyed stitching this one a lot. Thought I had tucked away most of the little white ends from the cutting, but have to try and get a few more out of the way. This time I won't point out where all of my mistakes are. I figure it won't matter when they are in the coasters. And my DD, DIL, GD will probably ooh and ah. Even if they hate them they will ooh and ah. Started Evening today. Rotating through the different "Rounds" is fun too.

Thanks for looking.

Miss Laverne says "shift me if you dare"
Miss Shirley says "I will go if you reaalllllly want me to but you don't do you?"

Great to see the ladies again.

Love South, such great colours. You are going well with them Carole.

You can say that again, Carole. We worry over a mistake we've made, thinking it's glaringly obvious to everyone, only to hear, "What mistake? I don't see anything."

Your hardanger coasters are beautiful, and they look perfect! :applesauce:  :applesauce:

Your assistants look so settled. How could anyone move them? :P

South is really pretty, especially in the colours you've chosen. Lovely :)
