Variegated floss/Variegated Thread Question

Good afternoon,

I am very exited to start my first Stitch-A-Long tomorrow. :whoop: :whoop: I have never stitched with anything other than DMC. In the project there are two different types of variegated floss. I was just watching a video, my new obsession, and the woman said that she has never stitched with hand died floss (she got some as a gift), but was told by a woman who owned a shop to soak the floss in water till the water runs clear and then let them dry for 12 hours. Do I need to do anything with the floss for this project, or am I just stitching away tomorrow?

I will also say that I have never washed a piece before as I did not know that I should till I joined this site. I have also never framed my work either. I have finished to pieces since joining this site and they are both unwashed nor framed...I will start washing the pieces that I want to frame. For this piece I will frame it, I will not be gridding it so I will not need to wash off marks.... OHHHH all the questions.

Anyways do I need to treat the floss/thread before stitching tomorrow? The two brands are Weeks Dye Works and The Gentle Art floss.

I would definitely rinse those threads in warm water to make sure they are colourfast. Some WDW threads are not colourfast and do bleed colour a bit as I found out last year but I believe their newer supplies are now being made colour fast.

I personally would rinse all hand dyed threads before using regardless of what the label on them says.
