Is it just me or is DMC thread easy to knot? I dont remember ever having this much trouble with Anchor but my Michaels only has DMC so I went with them this time rather than going to another store.
Is there anything I can do to help with the knotting? My lengths aren't overly long so I know that isnt the problem, and I let the needle hang loose every little bit as well to let it 'unwind'. Any suggestions?

Thread Heaven is very good, several other people use it and it has been recommended to be multiple times. I have to say I haven't actually bought any yet, but is on my shopping list.

I don't have a problem with DMC knotting. I do dang quite often. But some times 666 is a bit bad for getting knots.

I've said before that I find DMC to be much more fussy than Anchor. I wish Anchor was our 'standard' brand instead of DMC, but it is what it is. Some folks recommend a thread conditioner. I don't use any, but I do use The Stripper. The Stripper is a plastic thimble with a piece of soft velcro attached to it. It helps you separate and dampen your threads before you begin stitching. You dampen the soft velcro with water, and run your floss over the velcro. It de-fuzzes the thread and makes it less fussy. I don't remember who makes it; I did a search for it and came up with a lot of pole-dancing sites so I'll have to wait until my husband gets up in the morning so I can get in the bedroom and look in my toolbox where I have a new one that's still in the packaging.

I'm going to take a look for thread conditioner tomorrow when I go out and run some errands, it is really driving me bananas.

I don't have a lot of trouble with either brand. I do let my needle dangle quite often, though. And I only use a length that's about as long as from fingertip to shoulder, halved, for a loop start.

I use Thread Heaven. I started using it because my DMC was tangling and knotting frequently. Thread Heaven has helped A LOT. When my DMC tangles now, it's easily just pulled out. If I have parked my floss, then I condition it with Thread Heaven before i start stitching with it again. So give it a try and let us know. I think Thread Heaven was about $6 (US).

It seems after the threads getting soaking wet from my AC that they arent knotting nearly as much anymore, I guess that was a blessing in disguise....

That's why The Stripper works for me. It dampens the thread and it behaves much better. As a personal preference, I don't use thread conditioners, so The Stripper saves me.
