Hello from Australia

Hi All,

Just registered and wanted to say Hello from Down Under! Was wandering the realms of Youtube and found MrsMilkyBarKid's channel and she mentioned this forum a few times so here I am! I've dabbled with cross-stitch for years doing little charts from magazines, last year I ventured a little deeper and stitched a photo of my Mum's two chihuahua's. Was proudly telling everyone that it had 50 colours!! Just bought my first HAED, a mini with 88 colours...haha.

My current project is one I've adopted from my Mum. It's called "Secret Santa" she is Christmas crazy and bought it because she loved it but her eyesight isn't what it used to be so I said I'd do it for her. It's the first project I'll be using metallic threads and beads so looking forward to finishing that and starting on my first HAED once my threads order arrives.

Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Tal

 Hi Tal and welcome from me too in warm and humid Brisbane - its great to have you along on this very friendly forum.

Where in this vast land do you live. Currently there are 4 of us around the wider Brisbane area, some from NSW and Victoria.

Your 'adopted' stitching project sounds really interesting and hopefully you will show us some pictures of your WIP. Good luck with the HAED.

Thanks guys. I've had a read of some of the posts and everyone seems friendly and helpful but that seems to be a trend of stitchers in general which is so nice.

Squirrel: I'm in lovely sunny Perth, so other side of the country. I do love it here, came over from the UK back in 1991.

I've (hopefully) attached what the finished product should look like and where I'm up to. Waiting for the speciality threads to arrive so I'm having to do a fair bit of counting (and checking it four times) to continue with the threads I have which makes me nervous but I have the bug at the moment and can't sit still, must stitch! First time stitching on linen too and a I really like it!

Thanks again for the welcome!

 He looks so cosy Tal and you have made a grand start on it.

I have a son and GD in Perth - out at Kelmscott nr Armadale and another son now working up at Karatha. I love Perth and hope to be over there maybe in mid Feb.

Have you found Colours Down Under out in the Pioneer Village just off the main highway into Armadale yet? It is an amazing little shop with all sorts of treasures. Jo the owner is a delightful lady and a huge help.

The HAED I've ordered the threads for is the mini for "Autumns Promise" by Kirsten Mills.

I fell in love with the artwork the second I saw the thumbnail so couldn't resist, I've wish-listed the rest of her mini's but only going to buy them one at a time as I finish. I keep trawling through the HAED website, it's very bad for my heart because I want so many!

I love your Santa piece, as well as Autumn's Promise. In fact, I just added it to my wish list. Shame on you...so new to the forum and already trying to play the role of enabler. :-)

Welcome. I have just joined so am getting to know my way around. Your work looks so pretty. Very colourful. I only do small ones at the moment but hope to progress so slightly bigger ones. Not sure if I will ever get to do one as big as yours but you never know. :D

I love that one. I have that and mini Winter Magic in my stash. Haven't gotten to them, so I will love watching your progress on this. Great choice and I think it will be a lot of fun to stitch!
