Hey,
I want to buy some Gloriana silks for a project and can't find them anywhere in the UK except at Sew and So, where they are very expensive.
Are there any other shops selling them here?

I'm afraid that's the price of Gloriana silks, they are one of the more expensive silk brands - you won't find them much cheaper anywhere unless you shop in the US :). West End Embroidery sells shorter 4 yard skeins rather than the 6 yard skeins that Sew and So sell, which is cheaper if you only need a yard or two, but their price has jumped recently. To be honest Sew and So is the best value in the UK, you won't find them anywhere else.

You could try Calico Cat, they sell the smaller skeins as well, but they haven't got a website so you'll have to call them at 07779 103280 or email them at calicocat@lobster.clara.co.uk" target="_blank -- they are very helpful and their prices at the K & S Shows are always quite good. Worth a try.

Also, if you're thinking of buying a fair amount, try Margaret at the Little Thread Shop. She is in America but her prices are very good, making it worth the postage. She has an eBay shop selling set amounts of skeins but you can email her direct for any amount, at mbear5899@sbcglobal.net" target="_blank (PS she has a sale on at the moment....)

Hope that helps!

By the way, I think Calico Cat may do 2-yard lengths (West End Embroidery do 4 yards, I think, and standard is 6 yards). For most projects I've found 2 yards plenty, so that saves some money!
