How do you finish towels?

Post by ener23 »

Hi there,

I have mainly been working kits on cloth, but want to do a towel for a friend as a housewarming gift. Curious if you finish the floss on a towel the same way (pull through the stitches on the backside) or do you knot to maintain durability with washings?

TIA :P

I use this method, with the extra security loop.
another secure anchoring method is to run it under the stitches then skip the last one and go back under the same stitches again

knots are not a good idea at all

I agree with Cairee. I do that 'security loop' method in steps 3, 4 and 5 of the link she provided to the Scarlet Quince site. I use that for anything that will be washed: towels, afghans, receiving blankets, bibs, et al.

Don't knot and I wouldn't recommend using Fray-check.
