Hello from NC

Hi everyone
I'm Susan from Western NC. My sister started me cross stitching years ago, then I started quilting and next came knitting. A few weeks ago I was reading a quilting blog and the blogger also stitched. One thing lead to another and I was off reading stitching blogs - thus I'm hooked again.

Last week I ordered 3 new patterns, conviently forgetting one WIP project from those many years ago and another new project not started. But who's counting, right?
Then I found this forum and somehow found an organizing topic which led to purchasing a new system. I have always braided the stands over a ring but then spend hours looking for the right color number. So nice to read what works best for other people!
Started a new project last night only to find out my 60+ old eyes need more help than reading glasses. Does anyone have recommendations on magnifiers or is there a search feature on the forum ?
Look forward to meeting everyone and getting inspiration.
Susan

And welcome from the West of Scotland!
My 60-year-old eyes need a magnifier, too.

There have been several discussions on the forum about this -- have a search and see if anything interests you. There isn't a problem commenting on old threads, either if you would like updates from the forum.

Hello from Colorado and welcome to the forum.
I use a lighted magnifier similar to this one:
http://www.amazon.com/OttLite-438PN9-Fl ... +magnifier" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank (mine isn't an Ott). I also have a small clip on magnifier without a light and one with a light. They're too big to clip onto a hoop, but they clip onto Qsnaps or scroll frames easily.
I do most of my stitching on 28 or 32 count so a magnifier and good lighting are musts.

Thank you all for the kind welcomes.
I did find the recommendations here and have ordered an ott light. It seems rather large and not attractive but I need light and magnification,.
Wishing you all a happy stitching day.

Oh, be sure to let us know how you like it. Useful is much more important than attractive when it comes to our stitching and to saving our eyes.

Hello and welcome from WV!
I knit too and really want to learn quilting. Just got a used sewing machine a few weeks ago.
My eyes needed help too. I bought the Carson Optical Pro Series MagniVisor Deluxe Head-Worn LED Lighted Magnifier with 4 Different Lenses from Amazon. Helps a lot!

Debby - it should be here today and I'll let you know once I try it out.
Teresa - You will love quilting - it's another addiction! I love fabrics and putting the colors together. I am working on a Christmas quilt now and it just has 4 fabrics but I love it. There is a deep red with a little black and gold, deep blue and an olive green with some gold in it on a background of .... hmmm I guess I would call it light coffee with polka dots. Keep us posted on what you start on (I hope that's ok on a cross stitch forum?).

Hello Susan. I'm from NC also, in the northeastern corner of the state. It's good to see a co-citizen of the great Tar Heel state.
