I dug this out of my stash. Something else I've had for years. I think I'm a tad daft starting to sew something on black as evenings are now darker earlier. X

Not daft...it was calling to you to be stitched! With a good craft light I'm sure you'll manage!

I'm a sucker for cats. This kitten is gorgeous.
Looking forward to seeing him finished. Half my stitch projects have been on black. It is harder than on a light colour, but good lighting & a head torch helps.
Regards,
Richard.

One of my all time favourite designs and if I ever get round to stitching someone else's designs again this will be very high on the list!
Meanwhile it's great to be able to pull up the magic bench and watch someone else stitch him

Great start! I have somehow missed this pattern and need to add it to my wish list.

KITTY!!!!
Have you tried butting a small light under your project to see the holes? You can also put a white cloth on your lap, but the light works better.

Thanks for all the lovely comments and hints n tips. Much appreciated. Delighted you don't all think I'm daft! I now have to convince our 2 mostly black cats to get off my lap when I stitch this. Or at least get them to hold the chart or wear a white cloth, plus torch. Perhaps bribe them with tuna? X

I absolutely LOVE this one - I think I have it somewhere. I'm looking forward to stitching it vicariously through you for now.

Don't keep the cats from your lap, encourage them on - they will add authentic cat hair to the design!

Awww! A cat with the moon! I love cats.
And whoever spoke about 2 black cats...Stroke those sweeties. You probably can't make them help you in any practical way, but they can keep you company while stitching.
